Flowers with scary names. Aliens. Springtime in northern Michigan.
Beyond this point there might be almost anything.
There's always a lot of work to be done in spring to get ready for the season, but there was no sense of hurry on a perfect morning. Just people tending to things they know how to do well. Easing the boats in. Making this little repair and that on the docks. Fishing. And off beyond the fishing platforms, the Dam Beach waited for summer.
The main thing you probably want to know, given how Mama Nature has been behaving lately, is that yes, the beach is still there, all along the shore of Grand Traverse Bay. There are a lot of stones here and there, but we've all decided those add artistic interest, right? And the water is warming up a bit. I had to wade in to rinse the Cowboy off after he got into something and my feet didn't even go numb.
Spring is full of surprises. Things to look forward to. Things to remember. Favorite children's books, a fine writing coach, Mama Nature's little reminders of who's boss.
