Love the burger on a bike! Oh and all the other ones too. You found a real Swamp Marigold and an open Trout Lilly. Very Cool!

I was very taken with the burger bell myself. It took until yesterday, but I did indeed find the trout lily and the cowslips (OK, Swamp Marigolds/Marsh Marigolds). They’re right next to each other on the west side of 31, about a quarter mile north of the Birch Lake rest area. There will be many more bright yellow patches in there in the next week or so. And you know where I found the faux cowslips. 🙂

What’s the white flower that looks sort of like a bleeding heart?

Those are the Dutchmen’s breeches – tiny little pantaloons, hung out to dry, upside down.

Trust you to throw in a couple of surprises, Gerry. That pesky horsetail! Oh, the story I could tell you from my professional gardening days about removing an entire perennial border, plants and soil, to put in new soil in hopes of not having horsetail in the homeowner’s expensive garden. No success! It came back! I told my boss, the garden designer, “It’s prehistoric. It was here long before we were, and it will be here long after we’re gone.” Still, I did smile at all your photos, including that one.

It’s a fascinating plant. There is a lot of it on the bluff over the Bay and the beach beneath. I like it. Of course, my gardens are like my pets–“found.” It works for me and I think for them as well.

Love the fluffy double-daffies, and the Dutchman’s breeches gave me a chuckle – as did the hamburger! Is that a bicycle bell?

It is a bicycle bell. I took it to heart recently when an acquaintance disparaged blogs (Oh, those things about “Wow–I saw a fox today!”) and determined to put a more contemporary face on this enterprise. Ah. You look dubious. You think I am being wickedly ironic. Pshaw, as my Civil War veterans might say.
