You want to smile? Looky here:
Meet Emily Christine Claflin, the newest grandchild to gladden the lives of Chris and Sonny Szejbach. She was born March 4 and weighed, I am reliably informed, 6 lbs 11 oz. That makes her the perfect weight for her 19″ frame.
I predict that you will be seeing quite a bit of Emily Christine over at the Torch Lake Market. I further predict that everyone in the Township will know her middle name.

I remember those caps! Could never stand to wear one, though. You’re right. Looks better on the baby.

Lovely gorgeous girl! I’m going to be a Grandmother for the first time in about three weeks. A girl also. This post has made me even more excited! Thank you

You’re welcome, and congratulations. Remember when we had to wait until the big event to find out whether we were having a girl or a boy?

I think the hat shows to best advantage on that beautiful baby.

Emily Christine, is a beauty, and we my be related, in a round about way. My Great Aunt Mable was married to, Alfred Claflin. They lived in Lansing. It’s an unusual name and I know nothing of Uncle Alfred’s family. I wonder. I’d be so pleased to have this cutie in my family tree.

Wouldn’t that be something? I’m going to draw this to the attention of Emily Christine’s mom and dad. I’ll bet you’re already thinking in music.

i find several albert claflin’s in the family tree, but no alfred’s. we have information that dates back to 1664. possibly cousins??? my husband is from the east coast and had never been to mi prior to 2000, but has since found 2 relatives that live within 45 minutes of us right here in northern michigan. 🙂 thanks for all the wonderful comments about our little girl. we think she’s pretty special!!!!

Family history is fun, isn’t it! Particularly when you can watch it unfolding into the future.

Aaaaaw – she’s adorable. Takes me back to my own little bundles of pinkness, back in the day!
I recall taking my eldest to the shops, in her pram, dressed in a pink dress, little frilly hat, little frilly socks. And the sweet old lady who asked, “Is it a boy or a girl?”.
Welcome to the world, wee lassie.

Oh my – I gave some thought to a humorous headline along the lines of Lessee, now, would Chris and Sonny’s new grandchild be a little boy or a little girl? For the sake of sweet old ladies everywhere, I’m glad I went with the straightforward version.
I hope you pulled your flowered wellies on and went out to play in the snow.
