I know you are dying to read a long soliloquy on an abstruse topic, but I’m fresh out of patience for all that. Wouldn’t you rather see what’s up at Barnes Park? Between us, Katherine and I could probably come up with a full 12-month Almanac of Barnes. We see different things. She finds ladyslippers. I find mushrooms with incisors. It’s all in what you bring to the observation I suppose.

Fresh and inspiring photos. I like all of them, it is almost like being there. “Boring insects” photo is my favorite, it made me curious.

Thank you, Birgitte. I liked that photo, too. It looked like the birchbark had been shot full of holes by an extremely accurate machine gunner. (I prefer not to think about how THAT simile came to mind.)

Thank you for the slide show, Gerry. I’m indoors today, looking forward to an outdoor tomorrow (rain or shine), and your pictures have enhanced my already high level of anticipation!

You’re welcome, as always. I can hardly wait to see what you and Sarah bring back from your adventures.

Definitely a triffid egg! LOL!
(did you get the note I sent you about someone photographing a triffid on another blog?)

I knew I could count on you. I did get the note, thank you, and went over to Michaela’s blog and admired the googly-eyed alien and then never did anything with the link. Oh! I guess I just did!

Enjoyed your acorn family. Check your website regulary and am amazed at all the wonderful photos. Also found an interesting site regarding goldfish – and one on Kansas photos. I feel a part of your family and friends. Barb

Why thank you, Barb. Anyone who checks in here regularly and leaves a comment–that token dear to every blogger’s heart–is clearly friends and family material. Glad to have introduced you to the Surfaces, too. I like their take on Kansas very much.

Lovely pictures today – isn’t it a wonder what treasures each person finds on walk? Each of us has such a unique way of looking at the world – this is a good thing!

Thank you Cindy Lou. Let a thousand flowers bloom–or mushrooms sprout, as the case may be.

That moth fungus is very interesting and I don’t recall seeing something like that! LOL Viscous mushroom indeed! What a capture. I enjoyed the series of shots…. and tis you have an eye for things I would miss.
Well, thank you Barb Faas for the mention. 🙂 And I do enjoy visiting here at Torch Lake Views… photos and storytelling! 🙂

Oh I’m glad you liked the “moth”! I was very taken with it.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to have a field trip where a bunch of us could go to the same place at the same time and spend a couple of hours wandering around? Then we’d all go to a coffee shop with WiFi and create our individual posts. Then we’d see all the different things we came up with! Sort of a Plein Air Blog.
Best, of course, if none of us had ever been to the place before, so we would all be looking at it with fresh eyes–and utter ignorance!

Very well photographed and presented. The viscous mushroom looks like something out of Monty Python.

Sometimes my whole day seems like something out of Monty Python. Thank you, Scott–it always tickles me when you think I’ve taken some good pictures.

Gerry, that would be interesting and a lot of fun to have a field trip with a bunch of us. 🙂 I like that: “Plein Air Blog.” That’s good… really good.

I’m glad you like it. Maybe meet halfway . . . I calculate that to be somewhere around Lincoln, Illinois. I have never been to Lincoln, Illinois. Wonder if I could find anyone crazy enough to go on a road trip with me and the Disreputable Duo? Wonder if I could stand driving 7 hours in one day anymore. Wonder what other eccentrics we might be able to talk into a Plein Air Blog in Lincoln? This bears thinking about.
