. . . is Thank you. Thank you for this day. I favor a simple theology, and do not trouble myself overmuch about who might be listening. Perhaps it is only the other molecules of light and shadow that fill the universe alongside my grateful self. I know only that I did not arrange this splendor, but I am glad that it was done. I have, as the sign outside the Eastport Baptist Church suggests, taken my pulse, and finding it throbbing, discovered something for which to be thankful.
Mama Nature is a shameless hussy, flinging a sunset like this across the Bay, and I am another for taking its picture and posting it here, but neither of us is repentant. There will undoubtedly be some gritty realism coming along in the next day or two, as I am on a tear about several different things. Besides, it could be worse. I could have posted the sunset picture as “Auto Corrected” by Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Talk about gaudy.

How wonderful to read, because this is my prayer, too, of the same reason. Useful in any situation, as right now, when I feel thankful that Mrs. Uhdd made a connection between our two blogs last year, and by this gave me the opportunity to get to know you and join your readers. Your words creates their own melody, and let us enjoy, learn and wonder at the same time, – it´s always a pleasure, -though a bit hard for my wordbook!
The sunset is beautiful. Thank you for sending it by the internet, now that it can´t find the way itself.

Thank you Katherine, Birgitte.
Mrs. Uhdd has introduced me to many astonishing things, not least the Chip Butty, and I’m grateful to her. Visiting her blog is like attending a really good party where you meet new people who also become friends.
Um, my particular approach to the language can tax the wordbooks of my friends in Michigan, too.

Gerry, it makes me smile to think we say the same prayer. Yours is more articulate than mine, which is simply “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I find it bursts from me when I’m walking through the orchards or the woods or down the beach or just driving to Northport. No human being alive could have invented the beauty that is all around us.

Which begs the question: Whose bright idea was the mosquito anyway? Probably the Great Purple Martin’s. But I digress. Perhaps I am not more articulate but simply more parsimonious. I feel gratitude for this day, in bursts, as you say – but make no promises for anything beyond that, as some days do not inspire gratitude, no indeed. Sometimes the best I can dredge up is a grudging acknowledgment that, as I have a pulse, there is hope for better times to come.

I’ve never seen a sky like that before. It is gloriously beautiful. I’m thankful you were there to capture it.

I love your prayer. And there is nothing more to say after that, is there? (except, maybe, I am grateful for your presence in my life, Ms. Gerry…)
