When we ran into each other at the Post Office, I told Barbara Higgins how frustrated I was that I didn’t have autumn color photos from this year to go with the Color Tour story. “I have one,” she told me. “I took it when we went downstate last week.” The rascal. And who knew that Autumn would decide to creep north, rather than south, this year?
I like the glistening grasses in the foreground. I’ve noticed that as the cornstalks turn pale they gleam in the afternoon sun. It pleases me that something so dry and pale can still play with the light.

That is a lot of color. It’s still scattered about around Syracuse, NY. We’ve had a lot of rain, too, which isn’t helping.

I know what you mean. People think the color comes with cold, but I think it comes with dry–and the change in the slant of the light. Whatever magic brings the glory, bring it on!

Did I tell you already how beautiful the northern Wisconsin color was last week as we traveled through it? Not, unfortunately, with time to stop and capture the scenes.
