Babs writes: Saturday I went sailing on the Tall Ship Manitou. We were out for a couple of hours on the West Bay of Grand Traverse Bay. It’s easy to see that it was a beautiful day. There was a wind and a good time.
Well I guess so. September is a fine time to be out on the water. The crowds have gone home, the weather is invigorating. The cloudscapes are outstanding. Time to pull out the jackets and put away the grill.
Tomorrow we will resume our regularly scheduled programming. So to speak.

Put away the grill? I just got it out…This is Wisconsin! We cook out in the snow!

OK, you talked me into it. The grill stays. But only until the snow is too deep for my slippers.

Ohhhhhh….. Butterfly hatches. Plank decks. Baggywrinkles. Blocks and pinrails. Ratlines.
She’s a well-found vessel, she is. I wonder if they need crew who can varnish? I’d pay my way in a second.
Larabee Corners is very nice, too. But that is a fine ship.
Happy October!

I read “butterfly hatches” and started looking for tiny wings fluttering . . . then the penny dropped. Ah well. I confessed I am no sailor–although I definitely have baggywrinkles. I would be willing to bet that you could pay your way Around Here anytime. There are quantities of boats of all descriptions, and always a demand for people who can keep them, er, shipshape.

Pirates. It needs pirates. Or just Johnny Depp. Yep, that’d be the only way to get Landlubber Fee on any kind of boat!

Pirates are just the ticket. I expect I could find some around here if I just looked hard enough. I seem to have accumulated one or two of practically everything.

I’m off to Chicago to cheer a wonderful niece on while running 26+ miles in the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. So next week’s pic may show Lake Michigan from the southwest corner. Stay tuned.

We can never have too many photos of Lake Michigan. I had no idea that you could run 26 miles, let alone while cheering. I am impressed. When you get back I will have a toy photo shoot lined up for you.

I am very glad to hear that it is in a good way. That’s always worrying, wondering.
