So I peek in my inbox and there is mail from Katherine. She writes, Was sitting reading and happened to look up and saw a giant pinkish orange cloud over Torch Lake. It was so cool but people don’t use that word much anymore but I don’t want to use awesome so I’ll just continue to say “COOL.”
Oh heck yes. COOL, Katherine.
We still say that.
We have a lot more reason than most people do.

Wow, that’s really something! And please let Katherine know that we do still use “cool,” and the 6th graders I work with do too! 🙂

Yes, it is a superb, fabulous, excellent, awe-inspiring, gorgeous cloud. And I second the avoidance of the word aw**s***e. Overused.

The word that came out of my mouth when I saw the photo was “Wow.” A soft, reverential “Wow.” Now I’m thinking, “Holy cow!”

That’s beautiful. And such a calm lake.

So I published the post and went out to dinner and a movie and looky here, Katherine has singlehandedly restored Cool to the lexicon. I would write each and every one of you a nice response but the dogs have their paws crossed and then it will be bedtime and tomorrow is another day. Thank you very much for stopping by and confirming the essential coolness of Torch Lake. Katherine, you are the coolest.

That is an unusual looking pink cloud, it does look cool. 🙂

The cloud is reflecting the setting sun, and the lake is reflecting the cloud. Lakes create some pretty wonderful visual effects.
