Rob the Firefighter is visiting for an extended Mothers Day. He rode up here on his new motorcycle, and planned to leave today. But he will most likely leave tomorrow because today—-yippee! It’s raining, it’s pouring . . . not to mention just rolling with thunder and blazing with lightning. What a lovely morning. I believe I’m going to take him over to Chris and Sonny’s for breakfast. Or lunch, depending.
Meanwhile, Cub Reporter Babs Young to the rescue. She has been out and about and has sent some Chainsaw Art photos from an installation over on Cairn Highway north of Elk Rapids. Enjoy.

The chainsaw art is fun to see. Riding a motorcycle in the rain–not so much fun. Here’s to a safe return trip for Rob!

How COOL is THAT!!!!!!!? Wow I love it! The more you look at it the more you see, brilliant! and so well thought out vis composition, the little guys in the middle are raccoons?
I am seriously amazed that someone managed this with a chainsaw… very impressive. I hope that someone tells the artist so.

Happy (belated) Mother’s Day, from one to another. Tell Rob to be careful on that bike regardless of the weather.
Liking the chainsaw sculptures, nice squirrel. I used to be quite handy with a whittling knife (thanks granpa) but Himself always says the world is happier when I don’t have a power tool in my little hands, so maybe I won’t give it a try.

Glad you were able to spend some extended time with your son. Glad that rain cooperated to keep him with you a bit longer.

Hello to all. Pesky weather cleared up just enough to persuade RTFF it was safe to ride home today. Pesky weather. Where are the lightning bolts when you really need them? But at least we had a fine breakfast at Chris and Sonny’s and watched rabbits gamboling behind the Schoolhouse. No morels though. Just rabbits.
I like the sculpting too. Yes I believe those are raccoons in the middle of it all.

These nice sculptures reminds me of a local artist here in Århus, Jørn Rønnov, who makes lovely wood-art around in the landscape, look here:

Thank you so much for that link, truels. I have been browsing around looking at all manner of things on Jørn Rønnov’s site, and have added it to the Environmental Art Scrapbook here on Torch Lake Views. What wonderful work!
