Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I were feeling like slackers. Everyone else was out and about early, the birds laying their plans for the day, the deer browsing through the yard, and there we were, still at our breakfast. Finally we couldn’t take it anymore. We trotted across the road and slid down to the Bay for a little walk along the shore. Our excuse was that we needed to evaluate the Beach Route for the 5k run/walk of April 10, but the truth is we just felt like being out in the sunshine.
Spring can be a subtle thing in northern Michigan, full of hope and mystery and reminders that all our plans are Subject to Change. The search for the perfect 5k continues. We are leaning toward a noon start time. If the weather cooperates, there will definitely be some Beach Route.

Glad you got out in yesterday’s sunshine, Gerry. None for us for the next three days, it looks like, but it was great while it lasted and will be great when it returns.

It was nice, wasn’t it! I’m still wearing a goofy grin. Good thing we got out in it while we could, eh?

Thank you Anna. We must see what the weather brings before making our final commitment, but the beach has a certain appeal.

a 5K on a beach would be heavenly! 🙂 Love all the photos…makes me want to be there, even if there IS still some snow and ice!

It has definite possibilities, especially if April 10 turns out to be a nice sunny day without much wind. (Starting in late fall, we go down to the beach and decide which way to walk depending on the wind direction. Definitely best to walk out against the wind and return with it at our backs. Sneaky wind that sometimes shifts while we are out there.) I’m very glad the photos make you want to be here. We strive to encourage appreciative Tourist People.

I agree Gerry – it is wonderful to feel the sunshine when we can. I love your picture of the doe.

Thanks, Karma – I stood there and drank my coffee and watched the entire herd browse their way through the yard before the caffeine kicked in and I thought to look for the camera. When I moved to get it, most of them strolled over the hill and down into the lane out of sight, but these watched me for a bit. I think they know when hunting season is.

Gerry, Spring is definitely here, or right around the corner. I was out with my new toy, my battery pac chain saw cleaning up dead falls when I spotted my first gardner snake for the for the season. He was sitting right on top of Pepper’s grave {our first dog} just a waggin his tongue at me.
Later I was washing my windows on the outside and saw my first house fly. Do we really want the season to change? For I haven’t missed either snakes or house flies. Lois

With any luck the snake will eat the fly.

Subject to Change, indeed. Thank you for the beautiful photos. Any chance you will be live-blogging the 5K? 🙂

You are quite welcome for the photos. Mama Nature provides. I just click. (I will, however, take credit for showing up ready to click.)
Live-blogging is an excellent idea. Babs has an iPhone–AND an iPad–and one of those might even work during the Beach Segment. I suppose we could tweet, if I could remember my twitter password, although we are more likely to huff and puff. Ah. We can write a huffingandpuffingtonpost. Puffpo. We too can aspire to wealth and internet fame.
Don’t tell Larry Tomlinson we’ll be huffing and puffing on the beach. He’ll get the wrong idea and the next thing you know huffing and puffing will be restricted to windowless pole barns at least 1750 feet from the nearest child.

Drinking coffee and watching deer? Lucky YOU! Your beach is beautiful and the one with “somewhere there is a horizon” seems to go one into infinity.
Stunning!
Yeah for sunshine though! and for getting out walking for the 5 kms!
Well done 🙂
