Love the slideshow!
Funny seeing turkeys in the wild – they’re farmed birds here, not being native species. I think our local foxes would be very interested in them, and not in a good way.
It’s beginning to feel like spring here, at last. The daffodils are flowering, brightening my journey to work no end. The light mornings were back (temporarily) but we’ve just put the clocks on an hour, so it’ll likely be dark tomorrow when I get up for work.

Wild turkeys had practically disappeared in Michigan, which would have been a shame. Ben Franklin thought the turkey should be our national bird, and I stand with him. Anyway, back in the 1950s wildlife biologists put together a reintroduction program that was eventually wildly successful. Now there are turkeys all over the place. I like them myself.
I’ve enjoyed the light, too. Every day a little more of it. I wish you a nice sunrise on the way to work Monday.

Wonderful photos Gerry. My fav is the cardinal.
History might have been very different if the U.S. had chosen the turkey rather than a predatory bird as its national symbol. 🙂

Ah, you never know. Symbols are chancy things. From the point of view of the bugs, the turkey is a predator too. Owls are much more predatory than eagles—and sneaky to boot—but they are called Wise. Perhaps they are. Empires come, empires go, and in the end Mama Nature gets us all.

Fine pictures showing birds that we do not see here. The turkeys we see here are either farmed or zooed and probably much heavier.
…In fact, Mother Nature already have us. For good or for bad!

Thank you Carsten. Our farm turkeys are much heavier, too. Even the wild turkeys will be quite a bit heavier in the fall when they’re stuffed with all the good things they’ve stolen from the farmers.
You’re right, of course, about Mama Nature. You are probably an Owl.

They say wherever there are turkeys there are bobcats. Is this true where you are at?

There are lots of turkeys and few bobcats. It would not surprise me to find the few bobcats somewhere in the vicinity of the turkeys. On the other hand, there are lots of other critters for the bobcats to eat, and most of them are a lot easier to catch than turkeys are.

I saw a wild turkey the other day along side the road, made me wonder if it migrated from somewhere and it was by itself also. It still looks and I’m sure feels very cold at where you are.

It is cold here, even by our standards–but sunshine has us all in a good mood anyway. OK, not right this minute. Right this minute it’s dark out there. Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I went out to get the paper and the sky was full of stars. And a few satellites. I always wonder what my Civil War veterans would make of the satellites.

Wow you got really close to that cardinal! Cool! I’m still waiting for my local cardinal resident to allow me to take his close-up.

That cardinal was so obsessed with his own reflection that he couldn’t even see me. I’m tempted to say that’s such a guy thing, but I know better . . . Wish I’d had the tripod–it would have been wonderful to set it to shoot in bursts and just catch the little devil at his manic best.
