Babs Young writes: I am forever taken with how well Mother Nature understands and uses the elements and principles of design. She uses line, form, color, texture and all the elements so well. And then she organizes them in such imaginative ways using all the principles that the artists dreamed up years ago. This is Torch Lake looking south from the east side one day last week.
If you click on the image, you can see a larger version. Or, if you go down to the shore of Torch Lake at just the right time of day and look south, you might be lucky enough to see a much larger version. Then you will remember why you stay here in winter.

Mother Nature is indeed the greatest Artist of all ! What a superb image and words to describe it. I also learnt about another artist… Gwen Frostic 🙂 Thank you so very much, Gerry!

Yes this is beautiful. As most of Mother Natures views and patterns.
But the beauty lies within ourselves and the way we look at nature. Imagine if it wasn’t so …

I agree with you, but I would say “the way we look at the rest of nature.” I believe we are as much a part of the whole grand tapestry as the stars and the lakes and the pine trees. OK, and the mosquitos too.

Agreed. It would be different if they snacked on Zebra Mussels or Asian Carp, but they snack on me.

Beautiful… from here, at the extreme north end of the lake we see white, ice covered with snow and tonight there are two lights out there.reminding us that ice- fisherpeople are still out.

As long as the lights are steady rather than bobbing, I guess we’re OK then.

Nature is the original artist. Man takes most of his cues from her.
