After the first finding, after the mystical peering inward, after the cool knives and the fierce hot chemicals and the waiting, after the gathering of friends and family, after the bearing of the weight of loss, after dark-thirty in the morning, comes a great shining.
I got the best number on the Cancer Bingo card. B-9! What great news for a Valentine. A clear mammogram is a big thrill.

Great day in the morning.
OK, now all that’s left is seven weeks of radiation. Piece of cake. Chocolate frosting.

Now, imagine a little victory dance, just for Louan (it’s not very dignified, but it surely is heartfelt!).
My mum found the radiotherapy very tiring, and recommends listening to the body when it says “sleep now”. Fingers crossed that this is the home straight, and that it’s not too arduous a journey.
Best wishes from over the Pond.

I am tearing around today–what a good day it’s been–but want to say thank you! on behalf of Louan And Friends, which would pretty much be all of a six-county area Around Here. It has been a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I expected to see Mr. Rogers in the Eastport Market, but saw Kathy and Angie instead.
Beth! Bring your ownselves! I’ll bet young Joseph can even say Torch Lake now. That almost makes me sad. Almost.
Much spin-dancing by Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and Yours Truly.

Thank you all, for holding on to the string, for me. It’s my own idea of centering, having a large number of people out there, in the great unseen, holding on to the balloon that is my sanity, keeping me tethered to the good earth.

Thank you, thank you and thank you to these wonderful scientists who help the human element enjoy miracles every day. I am extremely happy for you and now continue the vigil for another friend.

We’re all still wandering about in the woods, but there seems to be a path through. Grab your friend’s hand and follow . . . Best wishes for a good outcome.
