That’s what she says anyway. She wrote: We had a little snow this week. It’s gone now and it’s supposed to be close to 60º tomorrow. However I love snow and was happy to see this and I also liked the way the fallen trees worked their way back into the forest.
We’ll ask her again in February. Although I confess she does manage to maintain a cheerful disposition all winter, which is more than I can say.
The photo is quite effective, isn’t it? If you click on it, you will get a much larger version that will make you feel as if you can step right into it. Go right ahead. I’ll just stay here at the Writing Studio and Bait Shop and make cocoa for you, shall I?

No, I think cocoa will do 🙂

Mmmm, not keen on cocoa, I’m afraid. I’ll have a Horlicks, if it’s all the same to you? Since I’m halfway down memory lane already, my favourite childhood hot drink will do just nicely. Actually, it’s just dawned on me, will you even know what Horlicks is? Ah well …

I need to fatten up for the winter. We all do, it’s how we were designed.

I did not know what Horlicks is but Wikipedia did so now I do. We had Ovaltine, but I liked cocoa better. Real cocoa, not the instant kind. In my mind, malted milk beverages should always be made with ice cream and served cold. (Rhinelander still had a Malt Shop in my childhood, probably so that we could be fattened up for the long Wisconsin winter, as is proper. Sadly, malts have gone out of fashion and those dreadful “energy drinks” have come in and the world is just a mess.)

When I read your headline, I wanted to scream, “NO, NO, NO! NOT YET!” When the imaged loaded and I had a chance to look into it, my blood pressure went back down. It’s calm and beautiful.

Yes indeed. The other stuff isn’t due until January. We have time to take measures.

It snowed here today…and rained a cold driving rain…and sleeted and sleeted, and sleeted some more. I had a cup of tea, but kick myself for not thinking of cocoa. Have to replenish my stores. The girls have taken to stirring in cinnamon sticks and using them as straws…or candy canes. And no cup of cocoa is complete in my house without a heaping pile of mini marshmallows on top. 🙂

I am sorry that you’ve been having the Dreadful Dismals. A nice cup of tea is always a comfort, and you still have the cocoa in reserve. No self-kicking allowed. Instead, pat self gently on hand, wrap self in a comforter, and read a storybook. When the kids are asleep, swipe a candy cane.

You are very welcome. Cocoa and cookie coming right up. And a little Milk Bone for Nino too. (That was Miss Sadie’s idea. She is a thoughtful terrier. 🙂 )
