Babs writes: Just when I thought the color was about gone, it rained and made the tree trunks darker and there is still lots of color. It’s still very nice.
Isn’t that a wonderful thing? Just when you think it’s all gone to dust Mama Nature turns on the waterworks and there we are, oh-ing and ah-ing all over again. Now rumor has it that on Tuesday and Wednesday we are likely to have quite a little blow around here, so you’d better get out there and look at these leaves while you can still find them. By Thursday they might all be washing up on the Ontario shore of Lake Huron.

Between the wind and the rain, our leaves are pretty much gone….alas! For another seven months or so….sigh.

Cindy Lou, you need houseplants! Macrame hangers! All that stuff. I’ll bet I have macrame hangers in the attic someplace. I’ll look.

Wonderful image! That’s just what I saw over here yesterday. Lots of yellow leaves, too, that looked lacquered against the dark black trunks.

It is beautiful. Now, of course, I have a whole lot of wet leaves lacquered to my deck and to the 22 steps to the driveway. Sigh.

It’s the contrast of the colors after the rain that makes the woods look so stunning. We finally have some color here but many have already blown off the branches.
Be careful not to slip on the wet leaves on your deck Gerry!

Hello Amy! I will be veerrrry careful. Falling down the stairs is not fun. I speak from experience.

Gerry, have you ever thought of compiling these beautiful autumn photos into a collection of blank cards? I would order a complete set to use as “hello” or “thank you” notes. I love this photo, last post’s photos, one Autumn Leaf At a Time photos, and some other spectacular shots! I bet I wouldn’t be the only one interested in these either…

Babs and I had talked about it before, and it’s something we’d like to do, but the logistics are surprisingly irritating. I’d need to set up a commercial site and link it to Torch Lake Views.
However. I’ll call you. We can work something out. In your case particularly I believe we could work for small potatoes! 🙂

I found some of those kinds of colors last weekend. Forests have layers which are hard to see during the summer but blossom in the fall. Overcast, rainy days make colors pop, too.

You did find some nice color – and made some wonderful Canada goose images while you were at it! I have vivid memories of the years we spent in New York. It’s beautiful in the fall.

Well, right next to the pond there was a nice trail into the forest. 🙂 You’ll have to wait for it though. More ducks and a visit to a cemetery comes first.

If you’re not careful I’m going to get you hooked on looking for graves of Civil War veterans. You’ve already got an archivist in the family. That’ll be a big help when you become hopelessly addicted to genealogy and local history.

Ours just start to change colors. It’s so nice to see the leaves falling down, although it would be a task trying to capture it.

One time I was determined to capture the falling leaves. I lay on my back on a bed of dry leaves on a sundappled slope, aimed the camera, and waited for the strategic moment. A couple of hours later I woke up with the camera still on my face. No useful photos, but an excellent nap.
