On Monday there was a little dinner over at Mar DeTar’s for the Witt family, major donors to the Wilkinson Homestead Historical Society. They like to visit in the fall to see how things are going, and we enjoy seeing them. Other people got better photos of that part of the evening, on account of I was talking to Geraldine Witt and getting into the excellent treats, but I managed to capture Chapter II, the coincidental birthday celebration for Nora Metz. Never mind trying to count the candles. In this township, candles are a gesture, not an accounting!
Happy 94th Birthday, Nora, and many more.

I’ll second your birthday wishes for Nora. Looks like a great birthday party.
In my family, you only get candles until you’re 18, after that they become a fire hazard!

Yes indeed, excellent treats.
In the annals of my family even one candle is a fire hazard. It’s a good thing we have a firefighter in the family.

My mother, another Nora, had a birthday this month, too. Isn’t ‘Nora’ a beautiful name? Too bad I never had a daughter to name after my mom.

It is a pretty name. Our Nora was named after her grandmother, who was another beautiful woman. Not that I remember her, mind you. Her photos show a tiny woman with lovely features looking straight into the camera. Through it, really, as if she can see us.

Love seeing the pictures of Noree. She is my distant cousin. We visit her in the summer. I’ve enjoyed looking thru your site. Perhaps I can meet you in 2011. Tell Noree I said a Happy Belated Birthday. How is she doing?

Your Noree is doing great. I should be doing so great. Giver her a call–she loves to hear from people, especially in the winter. I’m glad you’re enjoying the site–look forward to meeting you when you’re in this neck of the woods.
