There’s a new theme at WordPress that I like a lot, and I thought I’d experiment. Besides, I was having car trouble and I had some time to kill. It was this or do housework.
If you have a little minute to go look at the rough draft, I’d like to know what you think. It’s over at Torch Lake Trails. (You’ll see some familiar material, cobbled together into draft posts.) Back tomorrow with a regular post. [Update: I’m trying a different option today–a green and white theme rather than the black background. So don’t be confused by the comments below if you’re coming in late . . . ]

You know, I kind of like the new theme. It does have appeal the way the posts are arranged. It’s fun to experiment. Hope your car trouble is mended.

Thanks for the feedback, Anna – I liked the arrangement too. We’ll see. The car has a dreaded Intermittent Electrical Problem. Oh dear. Caution is in order.

I like it too. Especially the toe togs post. I think I have some more photos of her place. Did I send them to you? However I’m not as crazy about the black background. Black backgrounds seem to be a little past their prime on the web. If you need a ride somewhere just yell. Especially if it’s on the way to a good photo op.

Aargh!! Just as I get hip to black backgrounds they are passe. What I like most about the theme is the ability to showcase four posts at a time, giving people some options when they land on the homepage. There are other color options, but none that I like better. They seem cluttered. I figured you’d like the Toe Togs.
I believe we may have some photo ops in our future. Since my car has developed a tendency to refuse to start when and where it takes a notion, I am a little reluctant to go off on my usual expeditions to the far ends of sandy two-tracks in Banks Township.

I like it. I also like the black background, I take a lot of photographs and usually mat them in black because it makes them look richer.

Thank you Allie. You are clearly a person of taste and discrimination.

I like my photos on black, but struggle with reading white text on black. Like the format though.
Tough luck with the car that type of problem is so frustrating and inconvenient

Thank you for helping–and also for commiserating over the car. I have the same dilemma with the black background. I’m going to try a new experiment today.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I don’t know …
*sits on fence*
I kind of like the new version, but I also like the old one.

Okay, I like the new one better. Just a wee bit. A tiny bit.

Ouch! Did it hurt? I’m still on the fence myself, and actually it isn’t all that comfortable either. One more little experiment.

Hurt? Me? Nah, I’ve been falling off things since I was big enough to climb on them …

You make it white. I agree about photos on black, but think I like the white better. I do like the four posts up front.

Hmmm.
This is tough.
I didn’t get to see the “on black” version, but I keep my blog on black because I love the backdrop for photos. I tried a new theme about a year or so ago—it lasted about two days, but then I felt like a visitor to my own blog, and changed back. Apparently I am not a friend of change. lol
I do like the new look…Heck, maybe I’ll even change mine again. Especially now that I hear black backgrounds are passe. Yikes! Don’t want to be one of those “stuck” sorts. 🙂
Do whatever makes you happy…we’ll all keep reading no matter the theme. It’s the content that counts. 🙂 XO

Ooh! Nice answer. And I love your black background.
I’m not fond of change myself . . . but I sure like the flexible layout of the experiment, in black or in white and green. It’s nice to be able to keep four posts on the “front page” – especially since I have some contributors, and would like to keep their pieces visible even when there’s a newer post.
We’ll see. I usually find out what I think when I see what I do. Thanks so much for the feedback.
