Ice goes out – spaceships come in – just another day on the Bay

People who are not here but either (A) wish they were or (B) want to have confirmed for them that Florida is a better place to be in April, ask for updates on the ice on Torch Lake and the Bay.  Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I had a lovely walk on the beach early this morning, and are pleased to report the following:

The ice on Grand Traverse Bay is going out fast.  The glassy shards in this image are probably melted by now, as the sun is up.  The sun!  Think of that.

The Bay is melting

We did see one odd thing. Looked for all the world as if spaceships had landed on the open water. Ah well, times being what they are, we’re happy to see tourists from just about anywhere.  We hope they like cinnamon rolls.

Spaceships on the Bay?

Norton Bretz was at breakfast at Sonny’s the other day and says Torch Lake is about to give up its ice, too. If I get over there today I’ll update you.
