Louan Lechler is an engaging correspondent. For one thing, she knows how to tell a story so that you get all the right information at the right time. I couldn’t resist sharing this email with you.
“If you’re not doing anything Saturday, you might want to take in the Great Indoor Music Festival at Bldg50*. It starts at noon and goes till 5:00 p.m. I play on the solo stage at 2:30. I guess this thing is going to be a very big deal. It has gotten a lot of press. I am going to be on WNMC radio, Friday at 6:00, doing a little promoting myself. Oddly enough, the gal at the vet clinic, on my initial visit, asked me if I was the Louan playing at the Indoor festival, while she typed up my bill. That almost never happens in Elk Rapids. The word is getting around or she is ultra hip.”
(*That would be Building 50, the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, Traverse City. Louan forgot to mention that it’s FREE and that there are four different performance stages, an open mic area, and a kids’ fun stage, AND that it will be in the ground-floor Mercato shopping corridor where there are treats.)
She goes on to announce that she is a Great Aunt of a darling little girl named Arleita Marie, named after The Grandmothers, that she has found a truly great mint, Newman’s Own Organic Ginger Mints, and that she has “made the scalloped pineapple, three times. I know it’s probably bad for me but I can’t keep from it. I have cut back to 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar, but there is still the matter of that cup of butter. I love it.”
So there you have it. Two or three more ways to deal with that stuff out there. I’m going to Building 50 on Saturday. If you want to come too, let me know. Perhaps there will be an entire Cabin Fever Club caravan.
