Letters from Babs: Ice boats are a-comin’ are a-comin’ are a-comin’ . . .

Posted on January 25, 2009

Babs has been keeping an eye on the ice on Torch Lake, so naturally she met some ice-boaters.  I have spoken to these people before (ERN: Hardwater sailors skim across Torch) and have determined that they are, to put it politely, utterly daft. Friendly, though. Anyway, they were out and about today, draped in ice picks and Quick and Dirty Claws, checking out the ice. Babs writes: They say there are 5 inches of lovely black ice on Torch Lake. I got here just a little too late to get the good shots. If we don’t get a lot of snow they will be back later in the week. I hope to catch them then. This is at the Torch Lake access in Torch Lake Village.
