The place to be on Saturday June 28 was over at the new township hall – ahem, the Community Services Building – for the dedication, ribbon cutting and open house. For once we had some pretty weather, and it was an entirely festive afternoon.

You can read all about it in all the weeklies hereabouts. I wrote the story in the Elk Rapids News.   The Antrim County News and Antrim Review covered it, too.  However . . . none of them will give you as many pictures as you will find right here on Torch Lake Views. That is because I have a secret weapon named Donna Lane.  Between us we took lots of pictures.  Pages of ’em.  Click on any one that catches your fancy and you’ll see a larger version.

You can also read a Torch Lake Views exclusive: Betty Beeby’s Letter to the Future, which will be sealed in the time capsule that will, in turn, be sealed into the cornerstone of the new facility, giving us yet another reason for a party.  Betty read the Letter to me earlier this year when we were sharing a cocktail and commiserating about the depth and breadth of the winter.  I liked it a lot, and I’ve been bugging her ever since to let me publish it.  She finally gave in.  (In case you forgot already, you can read more in the March Time Capsule Contents post on TLV.)
