Babs Young shows you her view of the First Annual Torch Lake Views 5k (and Don Gould Memorial) Walk.
Last night a thunderstorm woke me up. Or maybe it was Miss Sadie, shoving her nose under the covers. She does not like thunderstorms. Well nuts, I thought. This is going to make for a gloomy little 5k. But what the heck. I patted a corner of the bed for Miss Sadie, rolled over, and went back to sleep. This morning I woke up again—thank goodness, at my advanced age you can never be sure of these things—and it was foggy. Then it rained. Then the sun came out, and emails came in from various quarters, and the next thing you know, there we were, assembling at the Day Park.
The forecast for our 5k was not good. Thunderstorms. Ew. So here's how it's gone this morning:
I think the best route for the Don Gould Memorial 5k Walk runs from the Day Park to the Nature Preserve and up the beach to Eden Shores, with a shuttle back to the Day Park. Maybe I'll start practicing The Happy Wanderer. Val-deriiiiii, Val-deraaaaa . . .
Don Gould died on Friday, April 1, 2011, full of years and love. I went to tell the chipmunks, but they already knew.
Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I were feeling like slackers. Everyone else was out and about early, the birds laying their plans for the day, the deer browsing through the yard, and there we were, still at our breakfast.
