On Monday afternoon I was down at the State Theatre being fitted for a volunteer usher costume. We had a choice of headwear, bowties, pearls and stick-on mustaches to accessorize our tasteful maroon usher jackets. The popcorn was excellent.
Recently Mrs. Uhdd said she was going to go off and look at an atlas to figure out the lay of the land Around Here. It occurred to me that I should write about the geography, just to give you a context should you be from Away.
Miss Sadie and the Cowboy could stand it no longer. They dragged me outdoors and made me go for a walk on the beach.
Nothing like a little winter rivalry to bring out fence-painters in force, leaving me free to spend my time reading Haruki Murakami's 1Q84 to my Civil War veterans. (The part about the town of cats stirred them up.)
