Lots going on but I thought you should have this photo of a storm blowing across Grand Traverse Bay. You may recognize the volcanic formations along the shoreline. The photo is by Andi Laidlaw. The volcano is entirely Mama Nature’s doing. Back soon.

Nothing better than seeing those big storms come across the bay – better than a big old HDTV screen!

Lovely but c-cold. Assume the “volcanoes” are ice / snow ?

They are ice and snow and gravel and sand. They are whatever the lake decides to vomit up on the beach at this time of year. When it’s all pushed up into a big pile the water rushes under the pile and splooshes through a hole, making the volcano. It would be very entertaining if it weren’t so c-cold.

Those colors are glorious. They’re so rich — almost jewel-like. And I just this minute got the double-entendre. “March-ing” on. It is March, isn’t it? And in a week and a half or so, the time change will come, although the days clearly are getting longer. I like that.

On behalf of Andi, thank you. Believe it or not, those colors are exactly what we see on such a day.
The days are indeed getting longer, and I like it very much. The time change, not so much. I’d just like to leave it alone, no springing forward, just enjoying the longer days. Light is an excellent treat.

I agree with you on the time change. Some knucklehead decided to lay out our town along a NSEW axis, and just about the time that those folks who have to drive east to work and west to home manage to do so without having the sun right in their eyes, they change the durn clocks.
The photo is very atmospheric. I believe I’ll appreciate storms on the lakes from afar, thank you. March has come in like a lion down here. We’re looking at highs in the low 80’s, lows in the low 40’s and wind. If you like windy, this is the place for you. Anything under 20 mph is considered a breeze in these parts.

I like breezy, and even an occasional stormy – but I do not like a constant moaning wind. Reminds me too much of my own grouchy self.

That’s what I like best in spring. The light returns.

And with the light – Carsten appears! How nice.

It’s a beautiful photo, but I’m very, very happy that things on this side of GT Bay look nothing like that this morning. Cloudless blue sky, sunshine pouring down. I’m glad I’m not in Cadillac today, too. Peaceful up here….

They don’t look like that over here today either. Andi took that photo Feb 25 – but the volcanic eruptions remain.
Much as I enjoy Cadillac, I wouldn’t be there on a bet today. Talk about volcanic eruptions.
