Not only did I fail to tell you all about Polish dinner at the Hacienda and getting my first deer but I have been scooped yet again. Intolerable. I really must do better. In the meantime I must eat humble pie. The Michigan Picture of the Week is a splendid autumn sunset taken from my favorite bluff on my very own road—by Babs Young. I console myself that at least I know where to go for a fine view.

You got a deer?! At a Polish Hacienda? No – wait. I think I confused that. As for the sunset – haven’t you copyrighted that view yet? No? You can’t do that? Humph. That’s not right.
In any event, it’s a fine sunset accompanied by hints of tales to come.Your obedient readers await!

Can’t copyright the view – it’s a public access and I am very much in favor of public access.
As for the deer and the Polish Hacienda – that post is freshly up and awaits you.

That is certainly a classic sunset view for these northern parts. Beautiful and depressing at the same time…

We are beautiful and depressing?!? Well that explains why we can’t get a date. At least we know how to maintain our classic sense of style.

Ah, what a lovely view. Now, go capture your own version. Ma Nature never does it the same. Your view will be different and, I bet, just as lovely.

Hi Gerry! Interesting that you had your first venison meal. I’m guessing I interpreted that wrong. Having been raised on venison, moose, elk, bear, buffalo, smelt, walleye, rabbit, etc. I think you’ve probably eaten venison before. I know I am a little unusual for someone raised in the Detroit area. My Dad even raised chickens. We had a bear cub my Dad and friends rescued in our garage for a week until the papers came from Washington to donate it to the Detroit Zoo.Of course, I had to go visit it. I was six years old at the time. It was a lifetime memory that I bet I’ve told you before.

‘Morning, Gay. I, um, got a deer – didn’t eat it this time. You guess correctly that I’ve eaten venison, elk, bear, buffalo, smelt, walleye, rabbit – no moose, though.
I’ve heard the bear cub story before but like having it here. Your Dad was an unusual guy. I’ll bet you enjoy telling stories about him to your grandchildren!

Thank you Dawn. There have been many just for me and whoever else is wandering by and cares to look. I have enjoyed every single one of them. I have taken pictures of quite a few. Let us just say that I’m glad to have Babs’s photo of my favorite bluff overlook.

That sunset is gorgeous! I agree with Scott – don’t let Babs have all the fun!

There is no “let” about it – Babs has all the fun it is possible to have in any given circumstance. The thing is, there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of it wherever she is, and everyone else has all of it too.
