The Duo and I rode off to Detroit to visit Rob the Firefighter and the Lady Alicia, leaving blog-tending behind. Upon our return, what to our wondering eyes should appear but unopened presents! And some of these are for you.
Babs sent angels and lights. She writes: Joy To The World!! Happy Holidays to each of you. These angels are by Tami Bier from the Bier Gallery on US 31 south of Charlevoix. They are on display at Juilleret’s Restaurant in Charlevoix. Stop by there for some great French Toast and to see all the pieces that Tami has made.
Here is is Christmas night and this house in Elk Rapids seems tastefully decorated for the season. Enjoy the season.
Katherine sent some of last year’s snow that she’d been holding in reserve. A good thing, too, as we have none at all out there just now—not even in Kalkaska. If you are from Around Here you know that’s practically unbelievable. Not to worry. I’m sure a re-supply is on the way.
Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I had a wonderful visit and are all tired out. Miss Puss stayed home, but she’s content to nap, too, so that’s all right then. We are going to have a little nap and then we’re going to make New Year resolutions.

Glad you had a good trip, Gerry. I look forward to reading about your resolutions, too. I have a couple of my own.
Snow! Yes, assuredly we will get more–but when? Freezing rain (today’s forecast) is a sorry substitute!

We heard about the forecast and decided to acquire provisions before settling down to a long winter’s nap. Amazing how resolve dissipates in the face of freezing rain.

I am reliably informed by many people who love me that although God loves me just the way I am, that does not mean there is not, shall we say, room for improvement. In fact, they suggest, there is a good deal of room.
But thank you.

Loving the angels, especially the one on the back row with the beard!!

Um, I believe he’s one of the shepherds. He seems to be holding a little crook in front of his bearded self. There are wise men, too, and camels. I believe I must find a picture of the whole set.

We’ve had a cold, VERY dry December out here in Northern California too — no snow in the Sierras, which bodes very ill for the coming summer. Slight chance of rain predicted for tomorrow & Thursday, but I’m not holding my breath. Much as I’d like it to rain so I could curl up with a good book & a nice cuppa, I bet it’s not going to happen!

On balance we’ve gotten off lightly in this part of the North Country, and I am grateful for the respite. I hope some blessed water comes your way soon–but only what you need. (Wishing for something in Mama Nature’s gift is always a chancy proposition. She has a wicked sense of humor.)
Happy New Year.
