We had a fine sunny day today, just perfect for riding around on ribbon roads taking pictures. Still . . . our Babs was not inspired. Perhaps she was still recovering from the visual feast of Florence. Then the sky turned lavender.
She writes: I’ve been back for almost a week, but the pictures just were not presenting themselves. However on the way home from Bellaire this afternoon the sky and setting sun provided some great silhouettes. This the barn at Providence Farm on M88.
I tell you, give Babs a sunset and a barn and she is in her element. And here I was expecting David. This is better.

I agree. I am partial to barns.

Beautiful silhouette. We spent sunset at the Antrim Count Natural Area. No barns, but we enjoyed the ice and stiff lake breezes.

Hope you at least got the lavender sky.

Lavender skies always bring wonderful surprises. Ask Anna Lavinia. (Am I being mysterious?) That is a stunning photograph.

You are being mysterious, but I expect I’ll worm it out of you. (I have lots of Annas and at least one Lavinia in my Civil War veterans database and they will help me.)
I am looking forward to some wonderful surprises.

That Babs has quite the eye, doesn’t she ? What a lovely photo ! I love silhouettes too.

She has. It is a requirement of her remunerative position here at Torch Lake Views. OK, now Miss Sadie is rolling around on the floor guffawing while the Cowboy looks appalled. (The Cowboy thinks I am altogether too smart-alecky for my own good.)

Looks like it was going to be a crisp night. Brrrr! Here the temperature has barely dipped below zero yet. Rather different to the past few years.

We’ve had funny weather. For a minute it looked like Winter, complete with a snowstorm and plummeting temperatures, but that went away and we had some nice sunny days. I’ve stopped consulting the weather forecast. I wake up each day, count that a good thing, and wait to be surprised.

Love the extra interest of the truck in there too. Love old barns…and sunsets…

I’m glad you mentioned the truck. I agree with you — it was just the right touch.

Thanks for the beautiful photo. It helped to remind me that there is more to this time of year in norhtern Michigan than cold, wind, (usually snow) and short, gloomy days. I really need a personal beam of sunshine to follow me around until the sun comes back. Photos from Babs are like little beams of sunshine!

Babs will be astonished but I do think of her as a personal beam of sunshine. But hey, Wendi – you are a personal beam of sunshine yourself. The solstice is upon is. After that it will get a little bit lighter every single day.

Love that time after sunset when the sky turns blue (or purple) with a slice of yellowish orange glow on the horizon.
Still on track for your Internet upgrade, Gerry?

I think I am an evening person. Right now, for example, we are watching the blue evening sky deepen. For just this moment the bare trees are still. Supper was good. There’s fine music on the radio. We are at peace.
We shall see what happens with the internet installation. I am cautiously optimistic. But peaceful.
