Babs has been down to Elk Rapids pondering the year’s mortality. She writes: Most of the boats are now gone from Grace Memorial Harbor in Elk Rapids. So I guess fall is really here. The cool temps are a good indicator too, but this was a recent spectacular sunset.
I do not mind that the seasons wheel, so long as there is a moment in October when every prospect is filled with riches. A good apple harvest. The spot on McLachlan where a person can see both the Bay and the Lake gleaming deepest blue. The sharp scent of fallen leaves. Two bouncy dogs, happy to see a person who has been gone all day.
Addendum: As always, you might wish to click on that photo to see a larger version. It repays the wait. Yes indeed.

I had completely forgotten, and then today, when the blue was its very deepest, I was disoriented when I saw it in both directions.

Babs, you present this lonely place so beautifully.
Aha! You do go out without the dogs.

She did capture the loneliness, didn’t she . . . a kind of autumn loneliness.
I have been known to go out and about without the Duo. It’s surprising how much more I accomplish.

Thank you Karma. The Cowboy is wriggling with delight. He chose the words “A good apple harvest.” He is a fool for apples.

I know another fool for apples… beside much more “scented” things. I would not feel lonely in such a place, its beauty gives you a feeling of warmth and contentment. Beautiful image and words. Thank you both.

Ah yes–I have often suspected that Niño and the Cowboy are kindred spirits. I am glad you enjoyed your visit.
