Babs went to ArtRapids! on a perfect day and captured the perfect summer dress. I was captivated at once. Vessel dresses! I thought. They look just like the ripple of Grand Traverse Bay over its sandy shore. Who would think of such a thing? And why am I so taken with the work? You can, as always, click on the photo for a larger version if that will help you puzzle it all out.
As it turns out, ceramic artists Harry Welsch and Kim Wellman of Lutz Florida are the artists. They have a photo gallery on the Florida Westcoast Ceramic Society website. As for what makes my mind go ’round, it remains a mystery.

They look beautiful with the beach as backdrop–but they are ceramic??? Not, then, “wearable” art, I guess?

Ceramic indeed. I figure that’s as no-iron as you can get.

Beautiful! And the perfect setting for the work as well!

I like the way the beach and the bay harmonize with the art, too. Babs does good work.
