There’s something about a rainy day that makes me want to wander around taking misty pictures of weeds and foggy streetscapes. Indulge me. There will be flowers, and not too much adolescent angst. These are from Elk Rapids and Eden Shores up in Eastport and along US-31 in between.
*Artism: according to the elementary school kids of Antrim County, this is what Betty Beeby practices when she is out and about noticing. I am a big fan of noticing.

Dutchman’s breeches! I am jealous!

There aren’t many, but they’re on the same southeast facing hillside where I found them last year. You know what else I found there last year? Heh heh.

You are really getting the hang of that little camera. Very nice mist!

Why thank you Maryanne! Elk Rapids is very appealing in the mist. Also in the sunshine but heck, that’s easy. Appealing in the mist, now there’s a test of character.

Love the Dutchman’s breeches – both the photo and the name! Never seen or heard of them before.

Thank you Karma. They’re one of my favorites, along with cowslips of course. Maybe it’s the name.

I really like the picture of the tree against the brick. The Masonic Hall? It’s got good contrast and asymmetric composition, two of my favorite design qualities, but best of all, it has interesting negative space (the designs made by the spaces between the twigs & etc). First place in the photo contest of Torch Lake Views.

Whee! Thank you. That will set me up for days.

I’m inspired by rainy, misty days too and have a new pair of rubber fishing boots from Canadian Tire that I’m anxious to try out in the bog.
You’ve seen so many wild flowers already! I’d be elated to find such a trillium. A promise indeed.

I cannot think of anything that would brighten up a spring day more than a nice new pair of rubber fishing boots from Canadian Tire. It crosses my mind, Amy, that perhaps you and I do not get out enough. On the other hand, perhaps we get out to more interesting places than the average bear.
I’ve been keeping my eye on a place where the cowslips grow. Today is a pretty day, and I have hopes, indeed I do.

Gerry that is both too funny and too true 🙂
This past Monday I worked from 7:30am to almost 11:00pm for Elections Canada. The poll where I worked was far more stimulating a place than I usually frequent. It took me a couple of hours to wind down and finally get to sleep afterwards.

It just gets funnier and funnier, doesn’t it? I hope you are recovering from your dizzying day. Next week I think we should visit our respective libraries. But first, to the bogs!

I prefer to be indoor when it rains, a good book and a nice cup of coffee or hot tea will do. I like the image of the building and water, the foggy background makes you wonder what’s beyond those leave-less trees.

Thank you Nye. What’s beyond those leave-less trees is the Elk Rapids Harbor and the library on its island. I have to make a post about yesterday, when we had blessed sunshine and blue skies.
