As I headed home from Elk Rapids on Sunday the sky darkened. I stopped at the little pocket park on the north edge of town to watch the storm come in across the Bay. It was plenty cold, so I stayed in the car, but even with the looming clouds and the gathering winds I thought I could see little hints of summer to come.
On the other hand, the guy with the blue hair kept his scarf wrapped around his neck. Maybe he knew something I didn’t.

Ahhh! I see… the phantom flamingo installation has made its way to Torch Lake Views. Unfortunately, there is no spring here, yet.

Not so you can tell anyway. But at least we have the flamingos.

Flamingos covered in snow should be your next photo!

They should, and if anyone from Elk Rapids is reading this I’d be glad to have that photo. As for me, it may be awhile before I can get the car out of the garage.

LOVE the second image in the slideshow, of the lake framed by that big tree. Beautiful!

I’m glad you liked that one. So . . . you didn’t like the guy with blue hair?

The blue hair dude is pretty awesome, and so is your new banner! Hints of warmer weather must be out there somewhere. This has not been a spring to cheer about so far. I’m about ready to give May a shot.

I’m glad someone appreciates Blue Hair Dude’s fine qualities. I’m hoping to acquire an update for the banner–one with snow on the flamingos.

I think Mr. Blue Hair must’ve known the weather that was headed his way. As for snowy flamingos, I fear all the snowbirds would see them and decline your former invitation to return.

I think they’ve probably been watching the weather stories and Facebook and then phoning and texting their friends who came back early. Nyah-Nyah-Nyah-Nyah-Nyahhhh-Nyah! they are saying.

You have flamingos! I have a flock of them too. They hang out by the pond. Poor things got so covered in snow and ice this winter that some migrated with the ice melt.

They aren’t, strictly speaking, my flamingos. They were hanging out at the Elk Harbor restaurant in Elk Rapids on Sunday. Dunno where they’ve got to now, but I’m going to ER this morning and will look for them. Also for the mammoth. Odd things are going on in ER. Bears watching.

Great shots, and I love the picnic table scene. Is that a blue bottle tree? Neat!

Thank you, Anna. That is a blue bottle tree. For some reason our recycling programs here can only manage green, brown and clear glass. The blue will go into a landfill or a project, so people are getting creative with projects!
