Babs writes: This was not taken today, but earlier last week in Elk Rapids. We had snow today and wind, and wind and wind. However I think these folks were pushing it. It was not that warm on the beach that day, they just wished for it. It was probably in the high 40’s that day.
I remember some nice days like that . . . the day of our 5k was like that. Pretty sunshine. No snow. Nice breeze. Sigh. If you click on that beach scene, you will get a nice big version and you can admire the tiny little dog watching Babs take pictures. It will pretty much take your mind off the down coat and mittens you have on today.

Shorts already? wheee that’s brave!
I do imagine that with such a long winter it’s normal that people flock to the outdoors if there is even a hint of sunshine… enjoy it whilst it’s there 🙂

The kids wear shorts just to prove they can and the adults wear shorts just to prove to ourselves that it is so too sunny out. We can get days in the 70s followed by a string of them in the 40s. Last year it was so warm in the middle of March that the Romeyn kids were sunbathing and wading up at Barnes Park (see March of the Polar Bear Cubs). That lasted a hot minute–the next week we had snow again. Michigan spring. It’s a wild ride.

That picture is lovely. Was that perhaps last Wednesday, the day I worked in the yard in a tank top? I thought about putting on shorts, too, but figured my knees would just get too dirty. Carpe diem!

It is a nice picture, isn’t it–summery. Babs sends the photos without data, so I will leave it to her to remember when she took it. I was thinking Wednesday, too. That was the day Katherine and I were over watching kids in flip-flops and t-shirts in the Environmental Art class. Sunshine goes right to our heads.

We Northerners are great pretenders! As soon as the sun comes out in March, so do our shorts 😉 Here’s hoping we don’t get all that snow the 9&10 meteorologists are calling for.

Hope on. I’m looking for my shovel. I think it’s over there under the beach towels.

Us Northerners think 50 degrees is warm after a long winter. When it hits 70’s in March or April, we can not help but put shorts on. It’s all relative.
Just remember, the water temperature is still FREEZING!

Heck, the way things are going I’m going to have to put earmuffs on the Cowboy just to go get the newspaper.

snow Snow early…then snow…sleet and rain after midnight. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 4 to 5 inches. Lows in the lower 30s. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph.

A dream of Summer in April 😉 What a lovely view and place. In French we have this saying : “En avril, n’ôte pas un fil !” Which would mean : “In April, don’t take even a thread off your clothes”. Obviously these happy people forgot about this rhyme 😉 all but the dog who protects his cute little head from the April sun under a parasol !
