Babs writes, It’s been cold but sunny and beautiful up here this week. She was in Elk Rapids, where sheets of ice blanket the shore of Grand Traverse Bay. The open water beyond flashes silver. Old Mission Peninsula dreams in misty blue. Deep in the cold the thaw is beginning. Promise.
Babs says she’s posted a gallery of her 2010 photos, but I can’t get the link to work. Back later with a solution to that.
Aha. Here you go: Babs Young 2010 gallery

That picture looks almost like an oil painting. Just beautiful.

Thank you, Fee. Sometimes I think Babs secretly makes oil paintings and then sends me scans of them. Haven’t caught her at it yet, though.

It is cold, but where there’s sun there’s hope!

Sounds like a big storm is headed our way~~or maybe it will go south down by you. Guess spring isn’t coming yet. Love the flash of silver in Bab’s painting–err–I mean photograph.

We are hunkered down. Bet you are, too. Bet the storm peters out over the lake.

Gerry, is this at the Dam Beach? I’m trying to place it (don’t mind me — my Michigan Obsessiveness takes over from time to time).

I think it is, but I’m not 100% sure. It might be south of Elk Rapids. Must ask Babs.

OK, now I’m sure. I should have recognized it. That is the spot on the far western edge of Veterans Park where River Street makes its 90-degree elbow on its way out of town. There are some park benches placed just right for sunset-watching. Very peaceful.
