It’s been a wonderful month for flowers, indoors and out. I can hardly wait to see what each new day will bring. Yesterday it was the first trilliums. This morning it was my birthday bouquet, lit by the sun pouring through the kitchen window and looking lovely even though it’s been around awhile. I like to think that applies the The Mature in general.

Thursday is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. I could ponder some adjustments to my own personal behavior, which are surely warranted. Instead, I’m just glad for this day. This very one. And I’ll be glad again later in the week when Rob the Firefighter and the Lady Alicia arrive for a little visit, bringing with them my new grand-dog Baxter the Benevolent. Happy Earth Day. A little early.

How do you pronounce the Alicia?
Am I the only one in the world who has it as:
a – lish – a
It’s my middle name.
Here, they pronounce it:
A – leash – a

It is the Lady A-leash-a, which is ironic, as she is decidedly off-leash. You are not the only one in the world who pronounces it A-lish-a, though–the Lady Alicia gets that all the time. A nice name whichever way it’s said.

Happy, happy birthday, Gerry! Wondermous photos today! Your trillium is blooming? I haven’t even seen my first trout lily flower yet but the trees are bustin’ out all over – horray! I love the names you guys have for your dogs 🙂 Baxter the Benevolent? Cracks me up!

Thank you, Cindy Lou. Yes, we have trilliums in bloom, though most are still fat buds. As for Baxter, I have appended the “Benevolent” part to reassure the Cowboy. We are looking forward with varying degrees of enthusiasm and apprehension to meeting Baxter for the first time. Photos to follow.

Happy birthday Gerry.
Sorry for the delay. -I could try to blame it on the volcano;-)
You indeed are a flower for us, your readers.
Thanks for all the interesting posts. We are looking forward to reading them for many years. I wish you a broadband connection.
Tillykke!

Carsten, that is a perfectly wonderful birthday wish!
I’m trying to figure out if I can blame things on the volcano. Perhaps it could explain my dusty house? Maybe I’d just better get back to the cleaning frenzy. If Rob the Firefighter saw my house today he would want to put me in a home for sure. (On the other hand, I’ve had a perfectly wonderful day!)

Isa, what a lovely greeting! Believe me, I am not opposed to ignoring birthdays altogether, but it’s still fun to receive such nice notes.
