For those of you who live here and wonder why I am posting a photo of the Whites’ sign: This is my response to Scott Thomas’s White Challenge.
For those of you who are from Away, for more than 80 years the Whites have raised beef cattle in Milton Township, Antrim County, Michigan, near Grand Traverse Bay.

Original idea Gerry!
Did you consider posting an image with snow for this challenge? Ok, there’s plenty of snow here, but…

Thank you, Carsten. I was wide open to whatever captured my imagination–but right from the beginning I thought about White’s. I knew I could never make a good image of snow, even though I have a lot of experience trying! But I thought I might be able to manage an image of bleakness and strength.

Thanks, karma. Had to find something offbeat to do. Just can’t stay on-beat.

Very clever!! I just knew that a creative idea was hiding somewhere, but my search didn´t come up with anything. I should have used Google´s streetview and taken a closer look at Michigan.
Is White the founders name?

Thank you, Birgitte. Mark White is the owner now, and is at least the third generation of his family to farm there, I’ve lost track. There are some stories about their barn at An old-fashioned barn-falling and the update.

Ha! This is fantastic! I once attended a photo seminar where we were asked to photograph “blurry water” and one of the students submitted an out of focus water bottle! You just gotta love a sense of humor like that! 🙂

I, um, have a ready supply of blurry water photos, too, should anyone require some . . .
Thanks, Tracy!
