♥ ♥ ♥ All this snow hasn’t kept our Babs in. She’s been out and about taking pictures in Traverse City. She writes: For those of you who frequent Traverse City, you have probably noticed this graffiti. These hearts are all around. Personally, I love them. You can read more about them in this Record-Eagle story. ♥ ♥ ♥
♥ ♥ ♥ So far as I know, nobody has fessed up to the heartistry. And I’m pretty sure it’s not Babs. Some people love ’em, other people say artists should not paint on walls or other objects without permission of the owners. I say that the heartist is welcome to come polka dot the entire Writing Studio and Bait Shop with hearts this winter if it floats his/her boat. It would almost certainly be an improvement. ♥ ♥ ♥

I like the heartistry, too. Although am just thinking about Barry’s reaction if anyone dared to heart-art on his garage. LOL!

Yes. A gallery owner in the warehouse district was . . . ambivalent. He liked the hearts. He just wasn’t sure he liked them on his walls.
I have just had a little insight. Sometimes exploring art is like visiting a friend’s religious institution. It can be moving, beautiful, evocative. It can help you to understand your friend a little better. But if your friend came over to your house and insisted on celebrating a ritual just as you were sitting down to some excellent treats and a little peace and quiet . . . you might not be charmed.
Art should challenge us. It should raise questions, push boundaries – but it cannot demand that we participate. We, too, get to choose.
Thus endeth the sermon for the day.

Oh, now I see. Had to look really close. TC is cool. We were there on Sunday. Soon I need to post a little art “installation” that appeared recently in our house. You won’t believe it. I’m not saying more at this “point in time.”

The Cowboy has occasionally created surprising installations at the Writing Studio and Bait Shop. I would believe almost anything.

Heartistery!
Thats a good phrase. Maybe I can use that in another context.
I don’t like grafitti. But sometimes someone makes something different and forces you to think again. Then it is annoying if you have to change your opinion .-)

I will look forward to finding heartistry in a new context. I love the way you open up a new toy – a word or an image – and immediately set about figuring out how you can use it in ways the manufacturer never had the wit to imagine.
You make an excellent point, too – it is extremely annoying to have to change a beloved opinion. But once you’ve done it, you can have a lot of fun exploring the new world you’ve just discovered.
