This autumn has been a mellow golden one rather than the splashy one we had last year. Babs writes: Fall has come to Northern Michigan. It’s not the most spectacular year for color, but always nice up here. This is the bridge to the library in Elk Rapids looking out to Grand Traverse Bay.
Every time I cross this bridge I think of the young man who was working toward becoming an Eagle Scout and persuaded a whole community to help him “paint the fence.” It’s probably time for another coat. I’ll help. I love that bridge . . . love the island library and its cozy nooks for reading stories.

Oh, that bridge! It is magic, isn’t it? A library on an island is a very special place indeed.

What a beautiful spot to look out across the Bay.

Without the people and the blue lake and sky this would have been pretty dull. The contrast makes the whole photo pop. Not easy to do this year as Babs has pointed out.

I love this spot. One of the nicest things about Elk Rapids is that every child who grows up there knows this spot and is imprinted with this view!
