This is such a lovely letter from Katherine. She writes: Got up early to go to work this morning and took the dog to the lake. Then had to go back to the house for the camera. This is what was going on. The lake was giving up some of its heat, in preparation for ice eventually (hopefully not soon!)
I may be forced to admit that summer is leaving. But not yet, not yet . . .

The land has been smoking, too, on recent mornings, and this morning I had to hurry out before the sun hit the garden to pick my green tomatoes. Frost! I’ve admitted it.

Sorry, Gerry, another F-word alert. Saw some frost about when I was traveling early this morning around upstate New York. The equinox is Tuesday.
Just remember, we still have some of the best weather and colors to come. 🙂

Shhh. I do love October, but it isn’t here yet. It’s summer, I tell you. Summer.
