Irises for Bloomsday

Out and about on a warmish sunny day it was hard to miss the bright irises blooming all around the township. They’re popular in Eastport gardens and have been for a long time—Loraine Mottern included them in her Wilkinson Homestead garden restoration, and they look very cheery along the fence.

Turns out the lovely things are surprisingly challenging to photograph. The structure is so convoluted that pictures are chaotic or look like alien beings ready to devour the viewer or . . . excuses excuses.

I like irises. I took a lot of snapshots and these, as Babs would say, made the cut. The white ones are fragrant.

I believe I’ll have a gorgonzola sandwich and a glass of burgundy for lunch.  Happy Bloomsday.
