Ready to rumble

Today we bring you another in our important series on Highway Safety.

I was over at the Claars’ working on the Wilkinson tax return with Connie when Dick came home from the Post Office and told us some outlandish story of road workers tearing up the asphalt on US-31.  Then he explained.  They’re making rumble strips along the center line.  This is because our township is so beautiful that a driver’s attention can wander, leading the car to meander across the center line with unpleasant consequences.  The rumble strips make a dreadful noise, alerting the dreaming driver to PAY ATTENTION! and get back over on the right side of the road.  Looky here:

I couldn’t help but notice that there is just a small section of the road that has been done.  I wonder if MDOT thinks that only our part of the Township is distractingly beautiful?
