On a recent morning the air hinted of spring and the beach was passable. Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I had a wonderful time on our walk. I was particularly pleased with some of the snapshots I took, including this one:
Then I saw what Greg Jolliffe had done with his rock over on the Leelanau. He calls it Spring Color, and I recommend you go see it. I am forced once again to the conclusion that as a photographer I am a pretty fair writer.
On the other hand, although Greg may have a more aesthetically appealing Rock, Torch Lake Township has a more spectacular Rock. Who knows what wonders may be uncovered during this thaw? Stand warned.

Thank you, Katherine – I was quite taken with it myself until I saw Greg’s. Makes me want to take a class! (Wouldn’t it be good to have one right here in TLT? D’you think there would be enough people who’d want to take it?)

Gerry, I love that rock!! (and Greg’s, as well.) I am right now head-over-heels in love with what’s being revealed beneath the melting snow. It’s so exciting. (My husband just keeps raising his eyebrows when I tell him it’s maybe even more exciting around here right now than in Florida. He doesn’t believe me…) P.S. I think your photography is grand. You & I can cheer each other on in that department.

Thanks, Kathy. In the past year I’ve learned just enough about photography to know that I want to learn a lot more. I have to live a long, long time to get through my list of Really Interesting Things to Explore.
I think the key to being excited about Mud Season is getting away for a bit and refreshing a winter-tattered spirit. Your Florida trip sounded like just the thing! Judging by the weather maps, you escaped the storm that dumped wet snow on us last night and is still going on. It’ll be awhile before I have more things to be excited about. It’s supposed to be warmish this week, so the new accumulation will probably melt quickly, but Dale Reedy is coming over to plow anyway. I hate icy ruts.

I’m sorry it’s snowing again down there. 😦
Yep, I heard the snow was going east and south of us. Bummer!
