Babs writes: It was a beautiful day here and I caught this Bluejay just outside my back door. I didn’t realize that the maple trees had these big buds until I looked at this photo. Spring may come to northern Michigan yet.

Maple buds–a hopeful sign! Any wild leeks yet? Any spring peepers? I mean, should we come home???

Over here in the drumlins there’s still a lot of snow on the ground. No wild leeks. The swamp ponds thawed a bit, froze a bit, thawed a bit – no peepers. But, um, we hope you’ll come home anyway.
(Last year I heard the first peepers on March 19: Springsounds)
