Meandering around the blogosphere turning up treasures

After the excitement over the deer, or turkey, this morning, I was bereft of good ideas, but I found some posts by other people that I thought you’d enjoy.

  • Photographer Lee Rentz lives in Washington State but has family in mid-Michigan.  I loved his December 27, 2008 Into the Mystic Midwest.
  • Kathy lives on the Keweenaw Bay in the U.P. and posted a wonderful Handy Snowshoe Primer.  Then there’s Walking on 220 Feet of Water.  Actually, I like her whole blog.  Go wander around in it.  Then you can follow more links to other North Country writers and photographers and the next thing you know your whole morning will be shot and you’ll still need to do laundry.  Oh wait, that last part is me.
  • I’ve been watching for the ice mountains to form on the bayshore. I thought we had a good start on them, but maybe this just isn’t the year. Over near Leland, though, there are some dandies. Take a look at the Jolli Lodge post, Dormant Volcanoes.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that Daugherty Johnson, sculptor of snow wolves, bears, lumberjacks and mushers, has decided on his design for 2009. All that awaits is the right kind of snow . . . . I’ll keep an eye out.
