This morning I took down the Torch Lake Views Endorsements widget and vacuumed up the confetti at the Writing Studio and Bait Shop. I’m filled with joy and hope for the coming Obama Presidency. We’re launched on a great adventure together. Like most adventures worth having, it will be filled with challenges. I think the American people are up for it.
I’d like to congratulate Democrat Connie Saltonstall and Independent Tim Peterson on their efforts. Although they were not elected, they made important contributions to civic—and civil—discourse around here. (So Matt, now we know exactly how powerful our endorsements are, eh?)

Thank you, Heather.
Here’s an E-mail forward from a dear friend:
Rosa sat so Martin could walk.
Martin walked so Obama could run.
Obama ran so our children can fly!

I’ve heard that before. Now I wonder why it doesn’t use Obama’s first name like it does for the other two figures.

Dunno, d. I thought about it, too – even considered changing the sentiment to parallel construction and then decided to go with exactly what my old neighbor sent.
I think the iconic Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. transcended it all, and were not just admired but loved like family. Barack Obama, while clearly winning confidence and respect across a broad spectrum of Americans, is still earning loved-like-family status.
Or not. I’m full of excessively analytical balderdash.
You have a theory?
