If you live around here you know that Barnes Park has a great beach and beautiful campsites. But did you know it has a network of trails that wind through the woods, past a prairie restoration, around a wetland, and through stands of oak, aspen, red pine, white pine and jack pine? Did you know that there are chipped trails and a wide, paved, bike and roll and stroll trail? Well there is all that, and I think you should go on over there and enjoy it. Say hello to Eileen and Teddy for me. (Click on the snapshots to see bigger versions.)

You can learn a lot more about the park at its own website. (There’s a link over on the right under “Parks and Trails.”) There’s a great collection of photos there. What you won’t find is the trail map, so I scanned it and put it on its own Barnes Park Trail Map Page. Eileen said that wasn’t good enough and sent me a nice fresh PDF that didn’t have any folds in it. That is posted here: Barnes Park Trail Map 2008 PDF. If you go to the headquarters cabin, Eileen will give you one.
