As its first project, the business group that got together last winter has produced a brochure packed with information about local attractions, shopping, services, restaurants and lodging. You can pick up a copy at many local businesses, or download a copy as a PDF.
UPDATE 2010: To my astonishment, people keep finding this old post. We have a nice new guide at the printers, and it, too, may be downloaded, either as pictures or as PDF files. Please see 2010 Torch Lake Township Visitors Guide available!

Hi Kristin – I don’t know of any camping spots right on Torch Lake, but there’s a great campground at Barnes Park in Eastport (right on Grand Traverse Bay and just a mile from public access to swimming and boating on Torch). Check out the Parks and Trails links in the column at the right for more info.

OK. I read the TLTVG and now have to bring my bicycle to enjoy the bike path and other things of interest.

The way gas is going, you might have to strap Amore to the handlebars and pedal all the way here on that bicycle – with Bonnie your Beloved riding along in a sidecar, and a trailer full of computer equipment and a few changes of clothes bringing up the rear. Must alert the media. (Also, you should probably know it isn’t really a bike path as that is conventionally understood. It’s just nicely paved and widened shoulders on both sides of US-31, all the way from Barnes Road to the Flat Road (a/k/a Old Dixie Highway, but that’s another post). You’ll love it.

Great guide! I love it! Consider an online map of destinations in Torch Lake Township. I started one using Microsoft’s mapping service – http://maps.live.com/?cid=5B0A4CBFFB9BA4AA!101 – though it is incomplete and I know some of the contact info is already out of date. [Ed. This link keeps breaking, so I’m putting another one here: Peculiar Habitats Torch Lake Map.]

Dear Peculiar – Thanks – I’ll have to let Maryanne Jorgensen know all her work is appreciated. I like your map, too – I’d love to have something like that on TLV.
