By now everyone in the Township knows that petty criminals burgled the Eastport Market on Tuesday night. The little tortfeasors stole liquor and cigarettes and lottery tickets and videos – well, video cases anyway – along with a chunk of peace of mind. The damage they did to the store will be fixed in short order. The damage they did to our image of ourselves as a community where this sort of thing doesn’t happen – that will take longer to repair. The financial hit to a small family business that provides needed goods and services and employs twenty people – that’s an assault on all of us. Someone knows whodunnit. Someone should speak up.

Hey, Lauren – good to hear from you. Say hello to David. We’d all like to think the idiots who did the breaking in are some other community’s idiots and not our idiots. After all, our idiots would’ve known better than to steal the empty DVD cases. Maybe. It’s hard to tell with idiots.
