Oh gee, that made me Google one of my favorite Robert Frost poems, and then read it slowly, savoring the image…
“No orchard’s the worse for the wintriest storm;
But one thing about it, it mustn’t get warm.
“How often already you’ve had to be told,
Keep cold, young orchard. Good-bye and keep cold.”

Frost had it right. A few days of delicious warmth too early can cause a lot of damage. John King wrote about this last week in his post on blossom time at King Orchards.
