Now I know it’s Winter. On Sunday Chris and Sonny will button up the market and head to Florida, where they are under the impression it might be warmer. On Friday evening they looked awfully happy as they packaged up my Anchor Steam and cheese. They’ll be back in March, but I’ll miss the cinnamon rolls and the warm welcome on a cold day.
Just two winters ago – even last winter – it seemed that we were developing enough of a year-round population to support local retailers through the lean season. It meant we had more jobs, and more places to go for life’s little pleasures, like cinnamon rolls. But the recession that’s “looming” in the rest of the country has pretty much “loomed” in Michigan. We’re in for a cold little February, boys and girls. I’m looking forward to March, when the voice of the snowbird will be heard in the land.

We’re having serious pizza withdrawl since Sonny and Chris headed south. I was so distraught when I found out, I had to call their other store in Ironton to confirm the bad news. Seriously, they do deserve a vacation, but we will sure miss them up here in Perma-Fudge country.
Your blog is great, and I look forward to checking it out frequently.
