I do not usually cover this particular aspect of Township life, but it all fell into place as we were out and about on our rounds today, and I thought you'd like to see it.
Recently the Township Planning Commission, in its wisdom, decided that one way to prevent medical marijuana "compassion clubs" from popping up like mushrooms in Torch Lake Township would be to eliminate "clubs" from permitted uses in the Zoning Ordinance. This strikes me as akin to prohibiting internet service in order to control spam. I began to think of the kinds of clubs that were thus banished from Township life. Bridge clubs, euchre clubs, book clubs, knitting clubs, model railroad clubs . . .
There I was in a swivet about the presentation to the Wilkinson bunch when Lois Dawson called. It was time to stop working on the slideshow now, she told me. I needed to forget about it for a little minute. Would I like to come over and go for a walk? She was making some raspberry tarts to bring to the presentation. She and Gary would get there early to help set up.
